The Business Growth Program helps build profitable, sustainable and capable Territory businesses, not-for-profits and Aboriginal enterprises.
There are teams located across the Territory to support you:
- your local small business champion will talk with you about the available programs, including grants and funding, and will work with you to find you the support you need
- economic development officers support business and industry by identifying and project managing strategic economic development initiatives
- workforce training coordinators are able to support you by brokering training support and providing program assistance linked to employment in regional and remote areas of the Territory. Workforce training coordinators also have a particular focus on improving job opportunities for local Aboriginal Territorians.
The Smarter Business Solutions program provides tailored assistance and advice to reduce your business costs by adopting efficient, innovative and proven energy, waste and water technologies and practices.
The Biz Secure and Alcohol Secure programs can help you make permanent improvements to enhance the safety of your premises against break-ins.
The first home buyer Home Renovation Grant program offers businesses an opportunity to carry out works for first home buyers of an existing dwelling.
October Business Month offers a month long program of inspirational and educational business events.
The Aboriginal Business Development Program assists Aboriginal Territorians to start or expand their business. You’ll also have one-on-one support from your local small business champion.
Building a skilled workforce
You may be eligible for funding to upskill or reskill existing workers as part of the Industry Buildskills Program. This program targets Northern Territory jobs that have been affected by industry restructuring, regulation and legislative changes, new or additional licensing requirements or job shortages.
NT Equity Training Grants provide funding for programs that increase training and job opportunities for disadvantaged Territorians.
The Pre-employment Training Program gives people practical skills to support them to get a job, apprenticeship or traineeship.
The Aboriginal Employment Program, includes the Aboriginal Workforce Grants and the Aboriginal Responsive Skilling Grants, supports initiatives linked to demand driven skilling or job opportunities in regions and communities.
Migration provide services that help you to engage eligible overseas workers through the Northern Territory Designated Area Migration Agreement or Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187) visa.
There are also Welcome to the Territory incentives to help you attract workers from interstate to fill your hard-to-fill jobs. Your job must be listed on the high priority occupations list and you must register your business to participate.
