The Arnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation (ALPA), established in 1972, is an Aboriginal-owned benevolent organisation which provides benefits to its members from the successful operation of community retail stores. ALPA has five member stores in Arnhemland, and manages twelve other businesses on contract across the remote Top End.
ALPA experienced a period of significant growth and contacted the department to engage with the Business Growth program. General Manager, Chris, said "the result of the business planning phase was that we were able to start a new business which after the first year of operation is now profitable and employing local people."
Business Growth is an innovative package of assistance programs specifically structured to suit individual businesses.
